How to Love Your TYPE 1/3 or 3/1 Energy Combination

Get ready for a big, fun splash of extroverted energy!

In this video, meet two bright and fiery ladies—with a TYPE 1/3 woman and a TYPE 3/1 energy combination. Find out how they are learning to love being themselves in a world that’s often not used to such big energy.

Fun, lively, social and determined!

Catherine leads with the bright, animated TYPE 1SM energy with her supporting Secondary TYPE 3SM Energy. And Erin leads with the rich, dynamic TYPE 3SM Energy with the support of her Secondary TYPE 1SM Energy.

What does that mean?

Well, where the TYPE 2/4 and 4/2 women we met earlier express a double introvert energy, the TYPE 1/3 or 3/1 combo expresses a double extrovert energy!

That means a lot of high-movement, but with different degrees of expressing a fun positivity and push-forward action!

Watch the video and hear Catherine’s nickname that captures her TYPE 1/3 nature. And why Erin thought she was a totally opposite Energy Type at first.

What did you notice about their differences and similarities? How do you manage your own Energy Type combination with other people? Share your comments and tips below.

Be yourself AND be conscious

Most people who lead with TYPE 1/3 and TYPE 3/1 energy already know that not everyone is like them.

The best scenario is to be yourself AND create harmony in your relationships with other people who are different Energy Types. To do that, here are some tips to manage your big energy around other people:

  • Don’t try to “soften” yourself.

What you don’t want to do is try to contain your energy or change it to be someone you’re not. Otherwise, your energy will rebel and even come out stronger!

  • You can consciously manage your energy.

In a way it’s like turning down the volume a bit when it would be of benefit to both you and other people to do so. Just like you would turn down the volume of loud music so you can connect with other people better so you can really hear each other.

Remember, it’s not a compromise to manage your energy. It’s being considerate and conscientious. And that’s a win-win for everyone, no matter what your Energy Types may be!

I LOVED this 1/3, 3/1 video! Can’t imagine Erin as anything but her fun, dynamic Tigger self!

Thank you so much for this discussion. It’s the one I’ve been waiting for! I’m definitely a 1/3 and was afraid that by embracing my 1-ness I’d lose my 3-ness. But I haven’t and I won’t. Ever!

Thanks for sharing your experience, ladies! As a 2/4 mother of a 3/1 child I am glad to hear your perspective. My 7 year old has definitely been growing into his energy. And it is an amazing force!

Wow! This helped me understand sooo much! I have tried to adapt to all type 4 and type 2s all my life and it drove me crazy, I just wanted to push them into doing, changing what they worry about and see the posibilities and GO FOR IT! Know that I understand that my energymovement is both 1 and 3 I feel peace to now that I need to move, to see results, to live in my world full of posibilities and projects, fun and results to enjoy. And there was a time (although very short) when I thought I was a type 2… Everybody told me I was so calm, but none saw that I was only calm when I was creating with my hands, I could go one for hours just to get a project ready, very, very determined. I think I am a 3/1. I have a lot of ideas (and very little patience), see posibilities and go for it to get results, and I have many projects going at the same time. My type 1 creates chaos If I loose the fun aspect and my type 3 gets very impatient and angry if things aren´t mooving fast enough. All my life I have tried to protect the people around me from my explosive energy, that turned inward and made me sick and depressed. Finally I can enjoy being myself!
Thanks for your great work and inspiration!

I’m a 1/3.I find exercise is a must to control my energy. I find it much easier to be calm around people if I’m already a little tired from a workout. Signing up for races has been wonderful for my undercurrent of determination as well 🙂

My two year old daughter is a 3/1. I am a repressed 1/4 working on coming into my oneness. Needless to say she and I have had serious run ins. So thankful to find you Carol. You are and your program are an answer to prayers. I will be buying your Child Whisperer very soon. I will be in Utah during Thanksgiving so I’m hoping to get my ducks in a row so I can come to the salon and set up a session with you also.

One question. What would be your recommendation for church until I get the book. I thought that if I just persisted she would know who is boss and sit still. My sister agreed with me but she is a 3/4 and has that ability to sit still. I honestly now don’t think my daughter has the ability to get herself though sacrament meeting as a 3/1 2 year old (even with toys, book crayons, you name it). Do I just let her run around in the foyer? That goes against every grain in my body.

I envy their free spirits. Seriously, anyone who would judge them for their energy is just a sourpuss (or a stressed out 4 or 2 who needs a little calm before the storm :)).

I am vacillating between a 1 and 3. I’m high energy! My nose turns up and has a circle at the end, small old-looking hands, smiling eyes, I use Fun and Awesome, the 1 clothes seem too airy for me and the 3 jewelry seems too clunky for me. I relate with the hummingbird, flitting from one thing to another, I also have an entrepreneurial side, have been in sales all of my life, I feel stuck between the two…help!

Hi, I’m a 1,3 and also felt like you, neither seeming quite right, until I realised recently the bright type one colours are for me, not the pastels. The secondary type 3 just doesn’t do pastels, at least for me! You can be a type one with brighter, simpler shapes, a bit more punch. Hope this helps x

This is great!!! I’m a dominant T1 with a bubbly, warm funshine personality. I also have the need to get things done once I single out one of my ideas. I will come out as a firey dragon lady when cornered or if one of my sons is treated unfairly. I don’t like to waste time on details or perfecting. That’s where my secondary 3 comes into play. It gives me the impetus to act quickly on my ideas.

I loved seeing Erin- her face is so expressive!
I’ve always been told that I am too transparent in business settings- while that may be one interpretation, the reality is that is who I am. As a T3/T1, I see that I can temper a bit to prevent being judged, but I still need to be cautious about that and stay true to who I am. The business world needs to embrace us in our differences!

A year ago I bought the T4 course . . . but so many times since then, I’ve felt like I’m going to simply explode. I’ve struggled with depression for a long time, and I wonder if that’s why I thought I was a 4. But seriously . . . I’ve got tons of health problems, and yet when I get around others, especially in a demonstrative way (making music, speaking, dancing), it’s like I come alive and I’m totally unaware of any of the things that limit me so powerfully the rest of the time.

Feeling like I’m “too much” and “not okay” (especially being raised by my T2 mother) have plagued me.

Is there a facebook group for 1/3’s and 3/1’s? I’d love to talk with them more . . .

Okay so at this point I have decided I am some combination of type 1 and type 3 but I am still struggling with which is dominate. In my features I see more Type 1 but my push is very strong, my gesturing is much more like the 3/1 in this video and oh my I cannot get the pastels to work at all on me. I have always leaned more towards the type 3 colors. I think this combination is one of the hardest to figure out.
