Thanks for sharing your purse with us Kalista! I love your organization and how you keeps track of your spending in the small file with the envelopes/cash. Such a great idea.

Carol, thx so much for doing this series! as a blended Type 4/1 (or 1/4), I can definitely see how my natural movement has been reflected in my handbags and their contents and organization since long before I even knew my energy type. I don’t have to have a “box” bag per se, but I do have to have STRUCTURE (slouchy bags drive me MAD) and I cannot stand the “extra movement” required to move flaps that cross the top opening of the bag, etc. (type 4). I have to have several handbags to choose from (type 1), and I change them frequently (type 1) to make sure my bag always complements my outfit whenever I’m going out (type 4). everything in my bag has a particular area it’s supposed to go and when something’s out of place it REALLY messes me up (type 4), but I also carry a few things that I don’t use all the time, just in case I need them (e.g., small plastic bandages, hand sanitizer, cough drops; type 1). I organize all of my bills from least to greatest (type 4), but I fold them in quarters (type 1) and keep them in a particular pocket in my handbag (type 4). and I’ve always done all of these things (and others) ever since I started carrying a handbag in my teens, naturally expressing my energy w/o even realizing it.

energy profiling has done so much to help me understand myself, especially realizing I’m a blended 4/1 energy type. my entire life I’ve felt like a walking contradiction…but now I know why, and I’m at peace w/myself. thank you! :)

    much love,
    Tanya

As a 1/4 I’ve also felt like a walking contradiction my entire life. I love that now it all makes sense. Helps to be able to accept it.

Wow!! Ok I will add this to the “Evidence That Niloofar is a Type 4″ pile..because my purse is very much like that. Very structured, very clean…and I organize it every couple of days to make sure there isn’t any junk in it. Still trying to determine if I’m a 1-4 or a 4-1…but this is making me lean 4-1. LOL Thanks for these videos! And thanks for sharing your purse Kalista! You’re so pretty! :D

Not to confuse you more, but I am a 1/4 and I organize my purse like Kalista does. :D Those two energies are neck-and-neck with me but Type 1 leads out by a nose.

I love this … my purse is soooo T4 and yes, I clean it out every night so I can make sure all my receipts go in the right places and I can stay on top of things!

Kalista–I love that purse? Is that one of the ones where you can switch out the cover?!

My everyday 4/1 purse isn’t a purse at all–I carry a structured tote so that I don’t clutter my look with shopping bags, mail, or anything else I pick up along the way. It’s enviromentally smart (no plastic or paper)and because I choose totes that are bold (fuchsia patent, b/w graphic and such), the size creates a bold statement for my outfit. No, I don’t waste time transferring my wallet/keys/phone/etc from purse to purse: they’re all in a mesh (see through) zip bag from Old Navy that I can just drop in and go!

    I’ve enjoyed this series!

Susan the purses you can change out are called Miche bags, there are reps who sell them. I know because I have bought several shells to change out and I LOVE to change them out!!! AND they have a smaller structured purse (that I use and LOVE) and a larger slouchy bag.

Kalista, where did you get your money file? I’d love one of those!!!

Her money file looked simply to me like the smallest size of an accordion file which can be found in Walmart or any office supply store. I found some at a freesale that used to be given away by a scrapbooking direct sales company.

I have a purse organizer inside my purse. I have everything organized and can take it out and put it into a different purse when needed. I’m a 4/1 so my purses aren’t so structured as the one in the video. I just learned why I have a problem with most of my purses. I need one with more structure!

I am in charge of the “extras” budget in our house, and that is exactly how I organize expenditures, cash and all. For my purse, though, because I have three children, it is a diaper bag. I rarely carry anything for me in the bag, but toys have to go in one pocket, snacks in another, diapers in a third, and my wallet goes in a small side pocket. Because it is a diaper bag, it is slightly larger than I would like it to be, and not as structured as it should be. I keep looking for one with the size I need to carry everything for my children, yet still possess the structure that honors me. Thank you for this wonderful series. As always, it was very timely, and exactly what I needed to hear.

I have also started using a purse organizer to keep things more structured. I enjoyed how she laid everything out so nicely on the tray as well. :D

I have started to play with using a tote but the large size annoys me a bit and my purse organizer is too small for it!

For many years I just used a man’s wallet! These days I want to cart around my iPad and iPhone so I can’t make do with so little.

p.s. Love Kalisa’s outfit. She looks fabulous.

I loved this purse series & just had to reply. It made me laugh. I like small purses & carry around as little as possible, only just what I need & nothing extra. I’m a type 4. My kids are always making fun of me because I not only keep my money in order from 1′s, 5′s, 10′s, & 20′s, but if I’m giving money to people, I always give them the wrinkled ugly ones, & keep the nice, crisp, & neat ones for myself. LOL.

I absolutely loved this segment. I recently bought a bigger bag so I could carry around my It’s Just My nature book. I wanted leather, but didn’t want to pay the price for the bags that were my favorite. I have incredibly expensive (well into the hundreds!)taste but must live on a student budget. The bag I settled on was purchased from a consignment shop. It is leather and cost me $18. I couldn’t pass it up, even though it is a slouchy bag and does require digging in order to get my wallet, keys, chap stick/lip gloss, or phone…which is pretty much all I have in my bag! I would LOVE to get my hands on a very boxy structured black patent leather or red bag, maybe even hot pink. That would be ideal. For now I will just continue dealing with my slouchy dig-able bag. I also trade out occasionally with a little boxy zebra bag I bought for $4 at a thrift store; it fits my essentials quite nicely.

    Hi,
I also love this series. I am definitely a Type 4. I love love that bag: the squareness, the black, the white polka dots and the surprise bright pink lining! I only carry what I use all the time and everything has it’s place in my bag. I also thought everyone kept their money in denomination order, facing the same way and right side up! It makes me nuts when my wallet gets cluttered with receipts etc…and I have to clean it out all the time — at least every other day. I carry a small purse because I hate carrying other peoples (my husband and daughters stuff). I also know now why I hate slouchy formless bags so much.
    Thanks!
    ~Beth
P.S. How do you know what your secondary type is. I am probably 2 since I can relate to that the most, but I think I have a lot of 1 as well.

I carry just a small wristlet most of the time. Or I have a purse with maybe my lip gloss and a phone and diapers or change of clothes for a toddler. I would love to see diaper bags of various moms as mine doubles for a diaper bag offen.

I, like Lori did, carry a mans wallet (black). It holds my bills (always in order) along with the fewest number of cards I can get away with, a couple of ref notes (groc, printer cartridge info and such) with an extra car key tucked into a little slot. My receipts get dropped every few days into a small set of drawers labeled by the month. When I have errands to do I list them on a post-it and stick it inside my wallet. When I need to carry more (such as my laptop or files and a book when I am teaching or going to a meeting) I carry a black leather structured zip case with red piping or a deep red brief case with snap locks. They have pockets for keeping things organized and in their place. My wallet gets dropped into one of the pockets. My goal is to carry the least amount of things as possible. Carol I love this series you have done and appreciate the many others you have done and are doing. Thanks.

Someone mentioned that it is hard to find a diaper bag that is structured enough. I have started using a student messenger bag I had from school as my bag for toting kid stuff. Because it is made for books and a laptop it has much more structure and some nice pockets for holding small things. It is easy to find schoolbags in the right colors and there are some really cute options at the beginning of the school year. It has a nice long strap and holds up to a lot of use.

Make that purse all black and that’s mine. I also have an organizer that keeps everything upright, where i can organize little things that won’t fit the other big things, like lipstick. It’s quite funny to see that someone i don’t know would be so similar to me, LOL
I even keep my money by denomination as well :) it drives me crazy when my husband takes something out and then puts it on the wrong spot. Also my debit card has a specific spot together with my envelopes (i divide my cash for different things, like gas and groceries, etc) and my checkbook. I keep two pens, one is blue ink and the other black. I don’t have a day planner so small.
I have a small purse most of the time, but since i keep it organized i always have room for more. My husband calls it the black hole :)
I normally empty it once a week to clean it and re-organize it too.

Thank you for this series. I was looking forward to the T4 video and there it was, a gift in my inbox saying that the video is up!
Learning to reclaim my love of structure, I enjoyed the example give by Kalista’s purse – I think I almost fainted with excitement when I saw the bill folder (next item on my list of things to run out and get!) but before that, saw my own purse when Carol pointed out, barely saying, that if we look inside it almost looks like file cabinet. My love of thoroughness has me carrying more than I really need, mostly books to read and books to write in, however, everything has a place. My wallet I bought before DYT, is a small turquoise one with silver zips and silver buckle with zebra print on the inside fabric. Love how in alignment we can be, even more with having the resources we get from LYT team.

This is so typical of a type 4 – my son, also a type 4 has to have everything in it’s place and as a type 2 I find it frustrating (lol) because he is always trying to organise ‘my piles of goodies’ by making one pile and that just isn’t right. I do love and appreciate his type though. It is a blessing especially being the only type 2 in the family :)

I’m a type 4 and I like slouchy aswell as structured.
I never sort my bills and never clean out my bag which is why you can find some really random stuff inside it.
I also carry a lot around just in case. Like all I need to do my make-up even though I rarely do it on the way but just in case… or some snacks, gum, an umbrella, sunglasses, a tote and sanitizer.
I think I identified mostly with the type 3 or 1 when it comes to purses.

I’m a 4/4. I very very much want a Hermes Kelly or Birkin, but don’t want to pay the $$$. I’ve been hunting for a perfect purse for years. I actually hate all purses, but truly HATE slouchy purses. I want leather. not too big, not too small, zipper topped to secure the stuff inside. In college I had a backpack for my books and a velcro wallet for little else.

I bought a Cole Haan Pewter Dr. looking bag in Dec, but can’t bring myself to use it. It has pebbled leather. I wanted something STRUCTURED but can be used every season. I keep going back to a clean matte satin black backpack (looks like a Prada logo on the flap) that can take any weather, any season, and I can keep my hands free. It has built in pockets on the outside and inside and a loop to hang up or carry with a finger. I don’t have to hurt my shoulders, can carry anything, including groceries. It has industrial looking silver zippers. Had it for nearly 8 yrs, long before DYT. I have a zippered bag with my large collection of lipglosses. My wallet is large due to the large number of frequent flyer cards. Yes, money is in order, credit cards in their own locations, thin little checkbook, etc. My wallet is glossy Liz Claiborne red, but everything else is black. I don’t like to carry cash, I *much* prefer to use plastic. I don’t have to carry it, worry if I have enough with me, and at the end of the month someonelse has given me a lovely summary of where I spent my money, which can then be downloaded into EXCEL so I can do my own analysis. It’s a wonderful plan as long as you pay the bill at the end of the month, getting rewards/points/moneyback and detailed spending analysis. I recently put a little note in my wallet outlining the close dates on my credit cards.
Anyway, if anyone has a line on a quality Hermes leather knockoff, let me know.

I read through all the comments hoping someone would say something more along the lines of what MY purse is like: full of junk and disorganized! If I were ever to be on “Let’s Make A Deal” I’d have anything he asked for! The thing is . . . I really dislike that I have to clean it out every two weeks or so. That doesn’t seem Type 4 at all. Thanks for sharing!
