Great suggestions! I am a Type One and I can totally identify with losing/not using gift cards (the so-called “perfect” gift).

I’m not a type 1, but I love the idea of making a date with the “honored” person for doing something or going shopping WITH them. I’ve thought of giving people an ‘experience’ but not the setting a date and spending the time with them, except on ‘accident’. This is going to be very helpful and insightful as we learn what spells, “love and appreciated” to each type.
    Thanks Carol! You’re a genius! :-)

Yes!!! Thank You Carol! Please don’t give me anything “practical” for Christmas or Birthdays!!! I want “fun” things that I wouldn’t normally go out and get for myself. What a great topic! Looking forward to the rest of the blog posts. Thanks!

not sure if it is my second or what but I’m not totally with you on this. I see how it totally applies to Jameson. He loves the “spend time with me gift” I enjoy them but they don’t brighten me at all. I love to get stuff so the going shopping together thing kinda works but like the spend time with me thing it’s not the brighten me experience. Practical is ok for me IF it is something I’ve hinted at wanting. I hint everywhere I go in a way in the “this is so cute” thing. I love surprises but usually the things I would not likely get myself. For me a gift is the thing that says I thought about you when I am not with you. Whether it be something silly that reminds them of me or whatever. I hate giving lists to people because I’d rather be surprised! Cute fun things to decorate my self or house are nummy! My friend made my b-day by bringing me hot cocoa and a candy bar, I didn’t expect anything! Someone’s doing the 12 days of Christmas to us and it is so fun to see what is next!!!

So my take on type 1s, find out if they lean towards the together time side or the surprise side, and how much better if you do both. AMEN to the surprise party!!!

You have 11 1/2 months to plan next years party for me :) hehehe

one more thing, it is a real let down when my b-day is forgotten. You could at least put streamers up!

I gave my friend a present in person (she’s a t1 btw), sent her an email, posted on facebook AND sent her a text! How type 1 of me to cover it all :) And it was obvious she loved it!

Great Ideas! I’m a type 1 and I love surprises … I don’t even need a gift. If someone just takes me on a surprise adventure for the day that would perfect :)
