Dressing Your Truth

Your skin is one of the most honest expressions of your natural movement as a woman. Due to the limited understanding of the different Types of beauty that women express, many women deem their complexion to be inferior compared to the standard set by the Beauty Industry. What if your perceived skin “flaws” were actually your skins “beauty features?” In this 4-part series we take a look at the natural expression in each of the 4 Types of Beauty, continuing with our Type 2 Subtle, Soft woman. Thank you, Carol and Anne. I have been figuring out the same thing for my Type 2 complexion. I quit using an over-the-counter retinol product and will now throw it away after holding on to it for a while “just in case I changed my mind”. Simpler truly is better.

I’m a type 2 and I don’t wash the makeup off my face either before going to bed — and I don’t have a lot of break outs. I’ve been doing this since I started wearing makeup and I’m now 47 years old…I must say that I have the type 2 jowls though…. :-)

So true for my type 2 skin. The more I get up in front of the mirror, the worse my break outs get. I have found that even washing my face with just water after removing make-up is better than harsher acne treatment. So interesting to find out that more type 2′s also see that less is more.

Wow…can I relate to Ann. I have rosacea and always have my hands on my face, checking my skin out, scratching off dry spots and picking (a really bad habit from my youth!). I always wondered why the rest of my family never had this problem…I am the only type 2 in the family. Will now work on the minimal approach to my face and see what happens!

Carol and Anne – I’ve asked you this before at a Club Night, but am still confused! My skin is sensitive, but is not typical Type 2 skin. I believe Anne thought I have 3 and 1 combo skin. I would love to have the soft T2 skin. Besides being more gentle with it (I have already tried this for 5 years, and it hasn’t helped. I actually went for a while not washing my face at night, just in the morning, and my face really broke out!), is there something I can do to get my facial skin to be T2? Or, do I just need to face the fact that I don’t have 2 skin, watch the T3 and T1 videos and treat my skin according to those Types?

Hi Heather, it is important to express gratitude and appreciate your skin just the way it is first. Release your skin and all of your body from the belief it is not good enough. Keep sharing your love and appreciation for exactly the way it is right now. Also, check out the Type 1 skin recommendations, keep it light and fun!

My husband is T2 and has a beard. He has had a lot of trouble with itchy skin and redness on his skin under his beard. He put lotion on it morning and night. Do you have any suggestions for a T2 guy with a beard that irritates his skin?

I am getting older and my type 2 skin developed many sensitivities in the last year, including possible rosacea. This video helped me to figure out some things that really help. First I stopped scrubbing with a washcloth and stopped using anything that stings or has granules. Now I only use my finger tips to wash with oatmeal soap, rinse, pat dry, first spread aloe, then coconut oil, in the morning. At night I just splash a little warm water then put on more coconut oil. This regimen has been wonderful for decreasing inflamation and dryness. I hope it helps someone else.
