This rings so true to me… I’ve tried to imitate all the people I admired, with hair styles, clothes, behaviors, qualities…. Nothing ever quite fit, & that has been a frustrating theme most of my life, from boyfriends to jobs, diets to workouts, etc. Knowing the randomness at least alleviates a lot of the frustration about ‘you need to settle down’ comments I get from a lot of my friends, well-meaning ones. For me, I’m actually a serial monogamist… long-term work assignments, marriages, long after their expiration dates came due too. Always trying to fit others’ pictures… duh…
