Carol Tuttle

If you’ve ever wanted to be more creative, I’ve got something fun to show you.

You won’t want to miss this clever video that can help you think differently about your own good ideas. Steven Johnson shares some creative patterns he’s found.

So, where does he say good ideas come from?

A slow hunch.

Steven thinks that most important ideas need some time to mature—sometimes even for months or years. The great idea that became the internet took a while to get going.

I love seeing my good ideas coming to fruition! How long has your best idea taken to develop?

A collision.

He says that people often have half-ideas, and real breakthroughs come through the combination of two people’s hunches.

I enjoy the way new ideas grow when everyone on my team shares and works together. Who do you connect with to let your ideas mingle and swap?

A lot of connectivity.

If you’ve ever worried that the internet is turning your brain to mush, you might feel good about Steven Johnson’s spin on it. He thinks that internet connects us in good ways that help us borrow and add to each other’s hunches—good ideas everywhere.

I’m sure grateful for the way the internet has connected me with all of you!

Get ready for your next good idea by watching the video. And don’t miss the surprising way all the fun drawings come together at the end.

So, do you think he’s right? Share a comment and tell me where your best ideas have come from.

You can apply his suggestions to any part of your life. After all, you need to be creative every day, no matter what you’re doing.

We’ve talked for the last few weeks here on the blog about different Types of entrepreneurs. If you need some good, innovative business ideas, keep this video in mind and check out the entrepreneur series—and embrace your natural strengths to come up with even better ideas than you ever have.

What a fun video! I know that I let ideas simmer for a while and when I’m ready, I bounce things off my DH – who’s great at refining or adding to it. I’ve also appreciated using the internet as a tool to see what others have come up with. Thanks for sharing!
