How timely. My sister and I were just discussing this topic! (We are both Type 4s.)

I have been pondering how a type 4 balances their gift of perfecting, and their keen critical eye with the law of attraction. Here’s an example:

My daughter has been preparing for college music auditions. She practices for hours each day and then performs for us as her parents at night. I tend to listen to her play with my mind looking for what needs to be improved. This just comes naturally to me. I feel like it is my role to play to help her improve. Then time comes for my daughter to go to her auditions. I want to actively engage the law of attraction in this experience, so our entire family focuses on her success. We talk about imagining the perfect audition, playing her very best, being perfectly in tune etc. Nothing but positive attitudes and energy in this house before her auditions. YET, this does not come naturally to me. I still see her mistakes, her weaknesses. I want to point them out so she can fix them even at the last minute. I feel a conflict internally with what my mind is doing on it’s own verses wanting to help her create success.

(I just had an aha moment. In my mind, success only comes after a person has perfected their experience, project, whatever. That’s probably not a healthy way to approach life. Right? Looks, like I have some issues to clear.)

My question is: How do I engage my mind in positive thinking, imagining wonderful possibilities, and creating miracles when my type 4 tendency is have a critical eye, analyze everything, look for the flaws, and want it perfect. Am I just being too critical?

I’d love to hear what others think,

    Tara

Dear Tara, consider the possibilities that your gift in perfecting the world is to imagine wonderful possibilities and believe in them- seeing what could be better and believing in it. Sounds like you might be caught in the negative side of the Type 4 thinking process. Also, give yourself more room to let go and allow infinite possibilities, considering that what you think is best may not be and to always allow room for something better or purposeful to manifest in life. It is also wise to let yourself consider the outcome you are afraid of! Using the law of attraction to prevent something you don’t want from happening is a very limited way to work with this consciousness. Imagine the worst case scenario and see what it brings up for you! What are you afraid of? Why does it HAVE to turn out a certain way? Why does it have to turn out the way you think it does? If you bury these fears they only fester and are a powerful energy to manifest what you don’t want!

Having a critical eye, keen eye does not mean you have a negative, criticizing mind. It’s also helpful for a Type 4 turn learn to say “it’s good enough.”
